Question – What is the sum of any two (a) Odd numbers? (b) Even numbers?

Solution –

Even number: Even numbers are divisible by 2 without leaving any remainder.

Odd number: Odd numbers are divisible by 2 with leaving a remainder.

(a) The sum of any two odd numbers is always even.

For example :

5 +7= 12
Here, both 5 and 7 are odd numbers but their sum 12 is an even number.

3+5 = 8
Here, both 3 and 5 are odd numbers but their sum 8 is an even number.

7 + 3 = 10
Here, both 7 and 3 are odd numbers but their sum 10 is an even number.

11+13 = 24
Here, both 11 and 13 are odd numbers but their sum 24 is an even number.

(b) The sum of any two even numbers is always even.

For example:

8 + 10 = 18
Here, both 8 and 10 are even numbers and their sum 16 is also an even number.

4 + 6 = 10
Here, both 4 and 6 are even numbers and their sum 10 is also an even number.

6 + 8 = 14
Here, both 6 and 8 are even numbers and their sum 14 is also an even number.

8 + 12 = 20
Here, both 8 and 12 are even numbers and their sum 20 is also an even number.
