4. Give reasons.
(i) The rainforests are depleting. Rainforests are a natural resource spread over the land, due to increasing population pressures, for settlement and agricultural activities, most of the forests are cleared either due to land or due to wood supply. This has adverse effects on the environment.
(ii) Paddy is grown in the Ganga-Brahmaputra plains. The Ganga-Brahmaputra plains are a very fertile area which has alluvium soil that is rich in nutrients. It helps many crops to grow including paddy. The flat terrain of the plains helps paddy to grow with ease having the right amount of water.
