1.In a two digit number the units digit is 2 times the tens digit and the sum of the digits is 3 Find the number ?

(a) 12

(b) 21

(c) 13

Answer

Answer: (a) 12
Let us assume a two digit number having ‘a’ at its tens place.

According to question, we are given that

Tens Digit ( assumed) = a

Units Digit = 2a

Sum of the digits = 3

So,

a + 2a = 3

3a = 3

a = 3/3

a = 1

Hence the required digits are

At Units Place = 2 x 1 = 2

At Tens Place = 1

The required number is = 12
Explanation:

2.In a three digit number the hundreds digit is 3 times the tens digit while the units digit is 4 times the tens digit and the sum of its digits is 8 . Find the number ?

(a) 134

(b) 314

(c) 413

Answer

Answer: (b) 314

Explanation: Let us assume a three digit number having tens digit to be ‘a’

According to question, we are given that

If Tens Digit = a

Hundreds Digit = 3a

Units Digit = 4a

Sum of all the digits = 8

a + 3a + 4a = 8

8a = 8

a = 8/8

a = 1

Hence the required digits are

At Tens place = 1

At Hundreds place = 3 x 1 = 3

At Units place = 4 x 1 = 4

The required number is 314

3.The sum of digits of a two digit number is 8 . The number obtained by interchanging the digits is 72 more than the original number. Find the original number ?

(a) 70

(b) 90

(c) 80

Answer

Answer: (c) 80

Explanation: Let us assume there is a two digit number with ‘a’ and ‘b’ at their tens and unit place respectively.

Since the number at Tens place is a, its value would be 10a.

So, the value of the Original number would be = 10a + b

Let us now interchange the digits i.e. ‘b’ at the tens place and ‘a’ at the units place.

The Interchanged number would be = 10b + a

According to question,

Sum of digits of original number = 8

a + b = 8 —–①

Difference between the Interchanged Number and Original Number = 72

(10b + a) – (10a + b) = 72

9b – 9a = 72

9 (b-a) = 72

b – a = 72/9

b – a = 8 ——②

Adding ① and ② we get,

a + b + b – a = 16

2b = 16

b = 16/2 = 8

From eq ② we get,

b – a = 8

a = b – 8

a = 8 – 8

a = 0

Hence the required digits of original number are:

At Tens place = 8

At Units place = 0

Original Number = 80

4.Check whether 451 is divisible by 2 ?

(a) Yes

(b) No

Answer

Answer: (b) No

Explanation: A number is divisible by 2, if the digit at ones place of that number is divisible by 2 or digit at ones place is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.

In,451

1 is at ones place

and 1 is not divisible by 2

So,451 is not divisible by 2

5.Check whether 9156 is divisible by 3 ?

(a) Yes

(b) No

Answer

Answer: (a) Yes

Explanation: A number is divisible by 3, if the sum of all the digits of the numbers are divisible by 3.

In, 9156

Sum of its digits = 9 + 1 + 5 + 6 = 21

and 21 is divisible by 3

So,9156 is also divisible by 3

6.Check whether 64329 is divisible by 5 ?

(a) Yes

(b) No

Answer

Answer: (b) No

Explanation: A number is divisible by 5 if the digit at ones place is either “0” or” 5″.

In, 64329

9 is the digit at ones place.

So, 64329 is not divisible by 5.

7.Check whether 875169 is divisible by 9 ?

(a) Yes

(b) No

Answer

Answer: (a) Yes

Explanation: A number is divisible by 9, if the sum of all the digits of the numbers is divisible by 9.

In, 875169

Sum of its digits = 8 + 7 + 5 + 1 + 6 + 9 = 36

and 36 is divisible by 9

So, 875169 is also divisible by 9

8.Write the digit in the blank space of the following number so that the number formed is divisible by 2?

464_

(a) 1

(b) 7

(c) 4

(d) 3

Answer

Answer: (c) 4

Explanation: A number is divisible by 2, if the digit at ones place of that number is divisible by 2 or digit at ones place is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8.

In,464_

If the missing digit is 4

then, the number would be divisible by 2

i.e., 4644 is divisible by 2

Therefore, 4 is the digit, which should be filled in blank space to form a number which is divisible by 2.

9.Write the digit in the blank space of the following number so that the number formed is divisible by 3?

537_472

(a) 5

(b) 6

(c) 0

(d) 4

Answer

Answer: (d) 4

Explanation: A number is divisible by 3, if the sum of all the digits of the numbers are divisible by 3.

In, 517_472

Sum of given digits = 5 + 1 + 7 + 4 + 7 + 2 = 26

26 + 5 = 31 which is not divisible by 3

26 + 6 = 32 which is not divisible by 3

26 + 0 = 26 which is not divisible by 3

26 + 4 = 30 which is divisible by 3

Hence, the only sum which is divisible by 3 is 26 + 4 = 30

i.e., 5374472 is the number which is divisible by 3

Therefore, 4 is the digit, which should be filled in blank space to form a number which is divisible by 3.

10.Write the digit in the blank space of the following number so that the number formed is divisible by 5?

439_

(a) 4

(b) 8

(c) 5

(d) 6

Answer

Answer: (c) 5

Explanation: A number is divisible by 5 if the digit at ones place is either “0” or” 5″.

In,439_

If the missing digit is 5

then, the number would be divisible by 5

i.e., 4395 is divisible by 5

Therefore, 5 is the digit, which should be filled in blank space to form a number which is divisible by 5.

11.Write the digit in the blank space of the following number so that the number formed is divisible by 3?

485_765

(a) 0

(b) 3

(c) 1

(d) 2

Answer

Answer: (c) 1

Explanation: A number is divisible by 9, if the sum of all the digits of the numbers is divisible by 9.

In, 485_765

Sum of given digits = 4 + 8 + 5 + 7 + 6 + 5 = 35

35 + 0 = 35 which is not divisible by 9

35 + 3 = 38 which is not divisible by 9

35 + 1 = 36 which is divisible by 9

35 + 2 = 37 which is not divisible by 9

Hence, the only sum which is divisible by 9 is 35 + 1 = 36

i.e., 4851765 is the number which is divisible by 9

Therefore, 1 is the digit, which should be filled in blank space to form a number which is divisible by 9.
