(a) Zero is the smallest natural number. As we know that natural numbers start from 1 and proceed as 1,2,3,4,…. Therefore, the smallest natural number is 1 . Hence, the above statement is false. The smallest natural number is 1 . (b) 400 is the predecessor of 399. We know that the predecessor is a number that comes before the given number. Here, 400-1 = 399 So, 399  is the predecessor of 400 and 400 is the successor of 399. Hence, the above statement is false. (c) Zero is the smallest whole number. Whole numbers start from 0 and proceed as 0,1,2,3,4,5…. Since, there is no whole number less than 0, so, 0 is the smallest whole number. Hence, the above statement is true. (d) 600 is the successor of 599. We know that successor of a number is one more than the number. So, 599+1 = 600 600 is the successor of 599. Hence, the above statement is true. (e) All natural numbers are whole numbers. Natural numbers are all counting numbers starting from 1 as 1,2,3,4,…. Whole numbers are all natural numbers including 0.
